Mountain Friends offers Corno di Cavento ascent, a military post of World War I. It’s a long walk up Lares glacier.
Corno di Cavento at 3402 m has been the theatre of fighting during the White War. From a mountaineering point of view, its ascent includes crossing the crevassed Lares glacier and scrambling up the last section. The top stands in a privileged position surrounded by majestic ridges and glaciers of the Adamello Presanella range.
The approach is from Carè Alto hut (2459 m) on a hiking trail to Niscli col and up the glacier where crampons and rope are needed. The round trip from the hut takes 7 to 9 hours.
We'll meet at the hut at dinner time. The trailhead is at the end of the Borzago valley road that starts in Spiazzo village, the hike takes 2 to 3 hours and is steep so we suggest you start in the morning to better rest once at the hut for the next day.
