Perhaps the most spectacular stage of the entire Normal Routes tour of the Brenta Dolomites.
In this two-day format, we aim to climb the dizzying spire of Campanil Alto, passing through the Via Ferrata Sosat on the first day and the famous Bocchette Centrali on the second.
From the starting point in Madonna di Campiglio, take a lift up to 2500 m. From there, it’s about an hour of flat walking to reach Rifugio Tuckett and the start of the Via Ferrata Sosat. It will take about three hours to complete the ferrata and arrive at Rifugio Alimonta, our base for the night. In the afternoon, there will be time to learn the basic rope maneuvers necessary for the next day’s climb and to try some rock climbing.
On the second day, an early wake-up call will be followed by a hearty breakfast before starting the hike. Shortly after, we will tackle the Bocchette Centrali via ferrata, which passes by Campanil Alto, the highlight of the day.
CAMPANIL ALTO (2937 m)
Less famous than its neighbor, Campanil Basso, but equally slender and impressive. The summit is located in the heart of the Sfulmini Chain and offers a breathtaking view. The start of the normal route is about halfway along the Bocchette Centrali and is characterized by a deep chimney. From a climbing perspective, it is one of the most satisfying normal routes. The descent is done by abseiling.
