A route that captures all the magic of ski mountaineering — silence, snow, and breathtaking mountain views. From Rifugio Lago Nambino, the ascent leads toward Passo Ritorto, crossing pristine and captivating alpine terrain until you can admire the Brenta Dolomites in all their majesty. A true classic for those who wish to experience the mountains away from the crowds and rediscover the pure essence of snow.
The meeting point is in the morning at the parking area of the trail leading to Rifugio Lago Nambino, just above Madonna di Campiglio. With skis on, the ascent begins through a beautiful spruce forest, following the trail that runs alongside the stream until reaching the Rifugio Lago Nambino, set in a panoramic position on the shores of the charming Lake Nambino. From here, the route continues westward across wider, gentler slopes, gradually opening into a broad basin that leads to Passo Ritorto. The surroundings become increasingly wild and silent, offering ever-expanding views of the Brenta Dolomites.
Once at the pass, the panorama is spectacular: on one side, the gentle ridges descending toward Campiglio; on the other, the imposing Dolomitic walls rising dramatically against the sky. For those wishing to extend the tour, it’s possible to continue for a short stretch toward Lago Lambin, which in winter transforms into a white expanse nestled among the mountains — a perfect spot for a break and a few memorable photos.The descent follows the same route at first, with wide, open slopes that allow for safe and enjoyable skiing even on less-than-perfect snow. The final section winds through the forest, leading back to the refuge. Upon returning to Rifugio Lago Nambino, participants will take part in a short avalanche safety workshop (ARTVA field practice) — a hands-on session on how to use the avalanche rescue kit (transceiver, shovel, and probe), an essential step toward greater safety and awareness in snowy mountain environments.
