ADVANCED SKI MOUNTAINEERING COURSE - DOLOMITES

Back

Medium

Two days among the sparkling peaks of the Adamello and the Brenta Dolomites to refine your technique, safety skills, and awareness in ski mountaineering. An experience designed for those who already move independently in snowy mountain terrain and wish to improve their ability to assess and manage risk, guided by the Mountain Friends Alpine Guides.

This training program focuses on risk management and decision-making skills, providing practical tools to plan and lead your own ski touring trips safely and independently.

  • Risk reduction methods: analysis and comparison of different approaches (e.g. 3x3 method, Munter method, Stop or Go strategy) and their practical application in the field.
  • Decision-making processes: how to collect and interpret information (avalanche bulletin, field observations, weather conditions, human and group factors) to make conscious and informed choices.
  • Terrain and slope assessment: recognizing critical situations, evaluating exposures, and managing safety margins.
  • Tour organization and leadership: planning, timing, equipment management, and group communication.
  • Ascent and descent techniques: improving efficiency and safety on various snow types and slopes.
  • Basic snow science and avalanche rescue: essential elements within an overall approach to risk management.

The goal is to provide concrete tools for a responsible, clear-minded, and rewarding ski mountaineering experience, where the freedom of movement comes from awareness.
